Ladies on the Loose: The Perfect Girls Shopping Day in Downtown Zimmerman
Are you in need of a night out with girlfriends? Do you love shopping? I just discovered the perfect place to go. Where can you find three awesome restaurants, shops filled with chic boutique style clothing, must-have antiques, treasures galore and fabulous refurbished furniture all available in one town?
Last Thursday, I had the privilege of attending a blogger event to discover what downtown Zimmerman has to offer. And ladies, it’s a lot. We participated in a mock event of their “Ladies on the Loose” event which takes place every other month year round. Check out the Facebook page for more details under the Events Tab.

Our first stop was at The Whistling Pickle. Kim, the manager, brought us a sampler plate of their Pickle Poppers, Jumbo Fried Chicken and Fried Pickle Fries. They were delicious, however, I must disclose that the Pickle Poppers were my favorite! I’d go back just to have those poppers again! Every Thursday through Sunday offers happy hour appetizers and kids eat FREE on Sundays from 5:00pm to 9:00pm plus they have live music and dancing.
After The Whisting Pickle we headed to ZoChic Boutique where we met Megan, who owns ZoChic and her business partner Becky. Both women are stay at home moms, boutique owners and loving their life as small business owners.
The shop is adorable! It’s chic and fun. I loved the simple décor. It really made the clothes just pop out at you. While shopping around everything seemed to be under $50.
Not only is ZoChic a great brick and mortar in Zimmerman but also they also have a fashion truck! They bring the party to you! Seriously, how fabulous is that?!?!
After shopping in ZoChic we headed next door to The Tattooed Lady. Yep, a tattoo shop! The Tattooed Lady is owned by Sonia and is one of two shops that offer services during “Ladies on the Loose”.
There is art hanging all over The Tattooed Lady for sale. Some pieces are hers and some pieces of artwork is from local artisans.
PLUS, look at these adorable shoes that are for sale! So fun!
The Shoppes on Fremont were up next. Andrea, the owner, told us a little about the shop. Each level has different vendors, each with their own style! Some of the vendors are more antique and rustic, others are refurbished or sleek and chic. There is a good mixture of treasures for everyone.
After visiting The Shoppes on Fremont, we headed over to Ramshackled Treasures! The shop is absolutely adorable inside of this beautiful old house. The house that Ramshackled Treasures is in is the oldest house in downtown Zimmerman.
After walking through the shop I confessed to Stacey, Ramshackled Treasures’ owner, that I wanted to move in!
Each room in Ramshackled (even the bathroom!) is decked out with treasures, from shabby chic to country, even to one of a kind gifts made by 16 different women. My dream is to own a farm house; naturally, I fell in love with this farmhouse sign!!
Ramshackled Treasures also sells Country Chic Paint, which is a chalk and mineral based paint, and is perfect for every DIY-er. Love!
After shopping for lovely treasures at Ramshackled Treasures we headed across the street to the Sassy Bean Boutique. Sassy Bean is owned by Tammy and they just moved into the new location.
Again each room in this house is filled with treasures created by different women. Zimmerman is filled with talented women sharing their work.
Right around the corner from Sassy Bean is Zimmerman Floral and Gifts.
As we entered the shop the sweet smell of flowers welcomed us. We were quickly treated to champagne and fancy chocolates while we chatted with the owner and strolled around the shop.
The next stops were not on the main strip in Downtown so we were treated to a “party bus” driven by Greg, the owner of the Ridgewood Bay Resort.
We made our way over to the Ashley Taylor Salon and Spa. We were given a tour of the salon and spa by Caryn, who owns the salon. What sets Ashley Taylor Salon and Spa apart from other salon and spas is that each station has its own private area, giving each guest more of a spa experience. They offer services for hair, skin, body, nails and tanning. During “Ladies on the Loose” the salon and spa offers hand massages as well as other services.
Just around the corner from Ashley Taylor Salon and Spa is Nelson Nursery.
The Nelson Nursery has been providing services to the community for 37 years. The current owner started working for the Nelsons, the original owners, at the nursery when he was in his early teens, which is one of the reasons they kept the name, Nelson Nursery, even when they took it over. They are family owned and operated.
Nelson’s Nursery not only carries beautiful, colorful plants and flowers but they also are the ones who ship out all the wreaths that the Boy Scouts sell. So cool! They also have gifts available as well.
As a mom, one of the things I loved about Nelson was this adorable play house right inside. I know it would entertain my boys…at least for a little bit!
After soaking the lovely aroma from the flowers, we piled back onto the “party busy” and headed to our last stop, ZBG Grill.
We were greeted out on the patio with the same swag bags you get when you join the “Ladies on the Loose” event. Plus ZBG Grill served us their signature Moonshine Margarita, which is available in original and strawberry, cheesy bread and pizza. Everything was delicious!
To end the “Ladies on the loose” they give away swag bags and draw for prizes from the different shops for the women that are at the restaurant at the end of the event. And of course they didn’t want us to feel left out so they even included this in our mock event. I came home with a simple, yet elegant bouquet from Zimmerman Floral and Gift! P.S. They deliver all over the Twin Cities!
I had a lovely time discovering the secrets of downtown Zimmerman! Whether you need a girls’ day out or just want to do some shopping on your way up to the cabin, please check out downtown Zimmerman. You will not regret it.
